Colonel Eduard Ashot Martirosyan
Interim Director of NSS of RA
- Martirosyan was born on 22 June 1974 in the town of Artashat, in a family of a military serviceman.
In 1991 he finished the Yerevan secondary school № 83.
From 1991-1996 he studied at the Transport Faculty of the State Polytechnic University of Armenia, and from 1993-1995 simultaneously received military education and training at the reserve-officer training department of the same university.
In 1995 E. Martirosyan participated in 2 months’ reserve training in the Armed Forces of RA.
In September 1998, E. Martirosyan was awarded a military rank of lieutenant of the reserve.
Since September 1998, E. Martirosyan has been serving in the national security bodies of RA, holding positions from junior criminal intelligence investigator to head of a directorate.
In 2000 E. Martirosyan attended 9 months’ courses for special training of operational staff of the RA NSM, and in 2004 – 5 days’ analytical courses in USA.
More than once E. Martirosyan, for accomplishments in the service, was rewarded by the NSS, General Prosecutor’s Office and Investigative Committee of RA. E. Martirosyan is an honorary officer of the Security bodies.
In September 2009, E. Martirosyan was awarded, by the Decree of the President of RA, with the Medal for Combat Service, and in December 2011 was awarded with a letter of acknowledgment by the Prime Minister of RA.
In October 2018, by the Decree of the President of RA, E. Martirosyan was appointed Deputy Director of the National Security Service of RA.
On 19 September 2019, by the Decree of the President of RA, E. Martirosyan was appointed Interim Director of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia.
E. Martirosyan is married, and has two children.
